Barefoot in the Park: Poppy Parker as Corie Bratter

Barefoot in the Park
Poppy Parker as Corie Bratter
Limited Edition of 800 sets
Original price: $160.
Ship date: Late Sept. 2013

Two sets of dolls based on the 1967 movie "Barefoot in the Park" were offered for pre-order in July 2013.  The first was a Poppy Parker doll set with three fashions; the second a Poppy and Chip set.  The movie was based on a Neil Simon play, and starred Robert Redford and Jane Fonda.

"Poppy Parker as Corie Bratter" had forward-facing blue eyes with neutral-toned eyeshadow and neutral lips.  She had applied upper eyelashes and used the same eye screening as "Foto Fab," "In The Air" and "Sweet in Switzerland."  Her hair was a reddish-blonde updo, and she used the "Caucasian" skintone (re-branded in 2013 as "FR White").

She came with three coats, three pairs of shoes, two dresses and one sweater-and-skirt fashion.

Outfit #1 consisted of a red, long-sleeved turtleneck sweater with a striped miniskirt in faux suede.  It had a matching camel-colored faux suede coat, with off-black pantyhose and black boots that came to mid-thigh.

Outfit #2 is the ensemble used in a dinner scene in the movie.  It had a light pink mini-length dress with a bow at the shoulder, with a coat from a darker pink fabric.  The set had tan pumps and nude pantyhose.

Outfit #3 was a blue mini-length dress covered by a blue coat with dark fake fur trim.  It used dark gray pumps.  This dress wasn't actually shown in the movie.  The designers wanted to create a dress to go with the blue coat from the film's opening scene, in which Corie and Paul go for a carriage ride and announce to the audience that they had just gotten married.

Accessories also included two clutch purses in dark brown and tan; two gold bracelets, hoop earrings and a wedding ring.

2013 News

I've started updating some of the listings with "live" pics of the new 2013 dolls.  I just updated the Poppy Parker Resource with new, live photos of "To The Fair," "Pretty in Polynesia," and "Sweet in Switzerland."  I'll be working on doing new photos of India, Spain and Japan soon, as well as updating the descriptions of each.

I'll also be posting about each one on my DollyPanic! blog.

Hugs!

To The Fair! Poppy Parker

W Club exclusive "upgrade doll" for 2013.
Original price: $135, which included a W Club membership.
Shipping date: June 2013
Limited Edition of 1175 dolls

"To The Fair!" was one of the two upgrade dolls available to people who signed up for Integrity Toys' W Club in 2013.  The other was "Love The One" Kyori from their Fashion Royalty line.

She was promoted with the following backstory (text by Integrity Toys): "Poppy is now the official spokes model for the 1964 International Fair!  Poppy is in a jazzy new promotion campaign portraying a tour guide at the Fair. She can be seen all over the world in posters and magazine ads. She's even made a commercial on TV! Poppy also just finished a large photo shoot that ties into the International Fair for Teen Girl magazine. This is the largest modeling campaign that Poppy's ever been in and she can't believe that her dream of stardom is coming true!"

According to Integrity, the 1964 World's Fair was the inspiration for the entire 2013 Poppy Parker line.

Poppy had left-glancing, bright blue eyes with a natural peachy eyeshadow palette and applied eyelashes.  She shared the same eye screening with "Fashion's Night Out/Bergdorf," "I Love How You Love Me" and "Ask Any Girl." Her lips were a light peach, and her eyebrows were light brown.

She had wavy golden blonde hair that was a barely-noticeable shade darker than the hair on the similar "I Love How You Love Me."

Integrity describes her outfit as a "turquoise tour guide uniform."  The uniform had a separate sleeveless white blouse that fastened with hooks down the front.  The skirt, jacket, shoes and pillbox-type hat were all a matching shade of turquoise blue.  The shoes were not solid blue, but instead were a blue snakeskin-style print outlined in white.

Her only jewelry was some simple pearl stud earrings.  She had a blue and orange shoulder bag, a small orange scarf, and nude pantyhose.
